TEGNA has an immediate opening in their Finance Department for an energetic, forward thinking Financial Analyst. This position is based at KENS 5, the TEGNA station located in San Antonio, TX. This position is responsible for providing relevant, accurate and timely financial analysis in support of our business units. Including, but is not limited to, weekly, quarterly and annual forecasting, annual budgeting, capital planning, ad hoc analysis, and revenue trending.
Develops relationships and provides support to the Financial Analysis Manager, Regional Finance Directors, Finance Hub Vice President and staff at business units.
Assists with the development and implementation of standardized analytical tools and reporting as well as ad hoc reporting when needed.
Performs financial planning and analysis, including forecasting, annual budgeting, capital planning and ad hoc P&Ls.
Tracks financial status by monitoring variances from plan.
Determines financial status by comparing and analyzing plans and forecasts with actual results.
Investigates variances to expected results and provides explanations.
Provides information to management by assembling and summarizing data; preparing reports; making presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations.
Increases productivity by developing automated applications; eliminating duplications; coordinating information requirements.
Assist in preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements.
Support Regional Finance Director with Internal and External Audit preparation and responding to specific audit requests.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Business degree (BS or MBA) with 2 years of financial analysis and accounting experience or comparable work experience
- Strong working knowledge of Excel
- Strong team player
- Financial analysis and planning prowess

- Strong communication at all levels
- Support multiple business units simultaneously
