blood cancer patients in need of a transplant with matching donors who can make it happen. Globally, we've

Internship Description: The Special Events Intern will be responsible for providing support to a collaborative
and dynamic Special Events team in their efforts to help DKMS achieve its mission of connecting bone
marrow donors with patients in need. The Intern will be immersed in the exciting world of special events as
the team prepares for the Big Love Gala in April and The Blood Ball in October. He/she will learn strategies
around cultivating and stewarding donors, developing solicitation campaigns, and executing logistics on the
day of a fundraising event.
Responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with Gala early reservation and invitation mailings • Supporting the team with Gala seating and general day of event preparations • Soliciting for and coordinating all in-kind donations for gift bags and other onsite product • Volunteering at various events (besides Gala) as needed • Providing general administrative support to the team as needed
Requirements and qualifications:
• Commitment to public-service, non-profit or cause-oriented work • Professional demeanor, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem-solve in a fast-paced work environment • Capacity to work well in teams • Comfort with soliciting individuals for donations in person, over the phone or via e-mail • Familiarity with the event planning and fundraising industries • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and internet research is a must. • This position does not provide sponsorship for employment status (e.g. H-1B visa status).
