Responsibilities
- Applies knowledge of page layout design to produce materials including newsletters, brochures, reports, flyers, conference materials, exhibits, posters, training guides, signage, and PowerPoint slides
- Formats text, tables, charts, photographs, and other graphic elements using design software such as Adobe Creative Suite to produce high-quality and visually pleasing designs that meet client requirements
- Creates and uses style sheets and templates; manages the version control process and maintains master copies for efficient workflow
- Works with editors, writers, and graphic specialists to incorporate revisions and make corrections to electronic drafts to deliver accurate, error-free documents
- Interacts with printers and vendors to coordinate production schedules, obtain price quotes, review bluelines and proofs, prepare files for printing, resolve pre-press issues, and ensure the integrity of the design is preserved during the reproduction process
- Ensures files are available for retrieval, properly packaged, and archived
- Creates custom graphics using Adobe Creative Suite or other graphic/page layout software programs
- Provides specialized assistance to staff in creating and/or identifying, selecting, and incorporating graphics into products, websites, and social media channels (e.g., scanned images, stock and royalty-free photos or custom-created images, infographics)
- Ensures all assigned materials – whether produced in-house or by an outside source – are compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act for accessibility of electronic products
- Leads and engages in quality assurance activities for all products produced
- Assists in securing required client reviews and approvals of assigned products
- Lays out proposals, ensuring all production requirements within the Request for Proposal/Request for Quote (RFP/RFQ) are met, including preparing clear and legible exhibits and tables, establishing visual hierarchy and consistency within the text, and using multiple-column formatting
- Prepares front matter and ancillary items for proposal submission including but not limited to title pages, tables of contents, and Government-required forms
- Assists with the development and maintenance of proposal appendices
- Assists with the production, binding, and packaging of proposals, including preparing electronic files for hardcopy and electronic submission, ordering supplies, designing cover art, and assembling proposals for hardcopy submission
- Develops and updates marketing materials including fact sheets, project summaries, capability statements, resumes, and other collateral as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in design/production support
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, visual arts/graphic design, business, or related field
- Proficiency in using Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud in a PC environment, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Presenter, and Acrobat Professional
- Proficiency with Section 508 compliance required
- Proficiency in producing web graphics
- Experience producing proposals in response to Government-issued RFPs/RFQs
- Proofreading and basic editing skills
- Knowledge of design principles as applied to page layout and book design
- Knowledge of typography
- Knowledge of process color and color matching systems
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with a strong sense of teamwork
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work extended hours as required
