The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing and validating computerized measuring equipment programs which are used to dimensionally inspect products. This person is also responsible for the maintenance of the CMM network system and training other individuals on the operation of computerized measuring equipment and responsible for providing support to gauge calibration functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Develops measuring programs for automated measuring systems such as Coordinate Measuring Machine (using PCDMIS), Optical measuring machines, roundness machines, etc. Insures that measuring programs execute automatically and contain set up instructionsResponsible for approving their own programs. Insures that files are properly backed up. Insures that equipment has the appropriate security levels and that the software is properly controlledPerforms validation studies on measuring equipment softwarePerforms validation studies on CNC equipmentPerforms editing on programs when required by EDC or process changesDownloads CADL files from Unigraphics into the measuring software to perform profile measurementsAccurately interprets G,D, & T and apply the principles to part programsPerforms calibrations on automated measuring systems, including tip qualifications on CMM’s and reticle checks on the vision equipment. Also performs preventative maintenance functions on the equipmentTrains Operators and Inspectors on how to execute software programs. Provides technical support to the Inspection and Shop Floor areasCreates digitized coordinates from parts and downloads to UnigraphicsUnder supervision, the individual can investigates new technologies related to automated measuring systems including optics, lasers, new probe heads, etc. Writes capital justifications for new equipmentMust be able to communicate effectively with engineering personnel, plant personnel, and customers and suppliers outside the company on a daily basisMakes recommendations to Quality Management for improvements related to the programmable equipment and programsMakes decisions about programs based on department and company manuals and blueprintsOther non-essential job duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisorMay be assigned special projects as deemed appropriate by the Q.C. Supervisor

Qualifications and Skills
Education: Associate degree in engineering/technical discipline
Licenses/Certifications: Certified Quality Technician (CQT) with ASQ is a plus
Experience: Without technical degree, candidate must have six (8) years’ experience programming automated measuring equipment and performing gauge calibration.
