Job Summary

Position Summary: The Residential Service Supervisor position is responsible for coordinating, supervising and monitoring activities in the facility to ensure basic needs of clients are being met and Habilitative training is provided.

Responsible to : This position works under the supervision and direction of the Residential Manager and Residential Director.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Functions: The following are the essential functions of this position. Successful job applicants will be able to perform these essential functions with or without a requested reasonable accommodation:

  • Supervise and monitor care provided directly to clients.
  • Ensure clients are adequately supervised/staff accountability sheets are distributed and completed.
  • Ensure clients are appropriately dressed in clothing that is clean, comfortable, attractive and appropriate for the time of day, activity and weather conditions.
  • Ensure that client’s toileting needs are met, including timely changing of incontinence.
  • Ensure implementation and documentation of client’s written training programs {including behavior management programs}.
  • Ensure staff persons facilitate the growth and habilitation of each client.
  • Ensure staff persons engage clients in appropriate, meaningful, social educational activities.
  • Assist in the assessment of client needs and development of training programs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide basic care to clients who require such; including: bathing and toileting when necessary.
  • Plan and participate in client oriented leisure and recreational activities.
  • Ensure that trips occur and preparations go smoothly.
  • Ensure adequate staff are scheduled.
  • Schedule RLA’s breaks and lunches
  • Ensure that building is secure/investigate security breaches.
  • Greet families/ensure access to clients/respond to family requests and needs.
  • Check Hotline for call-outs and communicate to Cluster Manager.
  • Be familiar with fire alarm system and policies.
  • Ensure staff are utilizing appropriate safety precautions including:
  • No single person lifts
  • Client’s being supervised
  • Belts in rocking chairs are used when appropriate
  • Identify/correct safety hazards
  • Ensure maintenance/wheelchair repair work orders are completed in a timely manner and follow-up is done to monitor completion.
  • Record and investigate staff incidents/ensure staff receive medical attention/ensure staff’s receiving external treatment get a drug test.
  • Monitor staff on restricted duty- ensure restrictions are followed and follow-through with doctor’s visits are complete.
  • Report alleged incidents of client mistreatment to the administrator promptly and participate in the investigation of these incidents as requested.
  • Provide training of staff persons.
  • Attend mandatory in-services.
  • Identify clothing/personal possession needs and refer to the Cluster Manager.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with client’s families, guardians and significant other{s}.
  • Maintain positive labor relations.
  • Ensuring that staff reports in a timely manner all medical concerns injuries/incidents to nursing.
  • Ensure clients are positioned properly and out of wheelchairs at least every two hours.
  • Ensure weights are taken on a timely basis and information is entered into the computer.
  • Ensure that “end of shift” reports are completed through interviews with staff persons and said reports are forwarded to the next shift. 2nd Shift is responsible for entering data.
  • Manage dining room an enter meal consumption data.
  • Attend manager’s meetings.
  • Communicate with supervisor in a timely manner either in person or via e-mail.
  • Serve as role model to the RLA’s; enforcing proper lifting techniques, positive interactions and encouragement of independence.
  • Pro- actively ensures client rights.
  • Complete performance evaluation for RLA’s {Resident Living Assistants}
  • Administer disciplines as indicated.
  • Provide for consistency with other managers.
  • Other related dues as assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions :

  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts, moves, stoops, and stirs intermittently during working hours.
  • Is involved with clients, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset clients, family members, etc.
  • Speaking and hearing when receiving instructions and conversing with others
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Is willing to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
  • Subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors throughout the work day.
  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
  • Reading and accurately recording information.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., throughout the work day.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Relevant Supervisory experience may be substituted based on applicability and overall experience.
  • Must have 1 year supervisory experience in a healthcare setting. Preference to experience working in an ICF/DD setting.
  • Must be Insurable under agency vehicle insurance program.
  • Must Pass Four Plus Two Defensive Drivers Training Course
  • Must be able to read and write in the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15.50 /hour
