Throughout our organization’s history, chefs and other culinary professionals have been passionate leaders supporting Share Our Strength, giving freely of their time and talents to end hunger. The Culinary Engagement Associate assists the National Director, Chef & Culinary Engagement to design and implement strategies to strengthen and grow culinary relationships and actions. Working across departments and platforms and liaising with relevant staff, he or she uses existing and new avenues to maximize chef relationships to achieve mission outcomes. The role is responsible for executing support systems for excellent relationships with chefs and culinary professionals, including creative brainstorming, maintaining thorough histories, and connecting the dots for engagement along with the National Director to provide the greatest possible support in growing relationships for fundraising and program success.
Cultivate external relationships related to the culinary industry to support Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry and Cooking Matters campaigns, including the development of new partnerships with culinary schools and other organizations
Add value to the greater team as a contributor of strategic thinking, best practices, and innovative solutions to increase the effectiveness of culinary professional outreach, recruitment, cultivation, and stewardship
Support all aspects of engagement platform for culinary talent, directly or through other Share Our Strength staff, including:
Track engagements in a timely manner and presenting monthly, quarterly, and annual summaries with key findings;
Maintain a resource library for relationship managers, including sample notes for a variety of occasions, templates for stewardship, and engagement history;
Approach relationships with creativity, including creation of new systems, techniques, and templates to maximize relationships across the industry, both broad and deep;
Monitor culinary pro developments in real time, updating relationship managers and ensuring proper acknowledgement;
Research and identification of prospective culinary talent in emerging markets, including outreach and cultivation and transition to local market teams
Internally further relationships with culinary pros, through avenues such as:
Corporate sponsor activations at events / endorsements
National and local campaign involvement, including appearances, meetings, outreach to representatives, mobilization of social networks
Coordination with staff to ensure restaurant visits as appropriate during work travel
Effective management and promotion of culinary pros on social media, coordinated with digital team
Help to develop new initiatives around Culinary Professionals as appropriate
Represent Share Our Strength as needed at industry events and conferences to network, generate new leads, and solicit interest in No Kid Hungry
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Ability to balance multiple stakeholder’s needs.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work proactively in a fast-paced, dynamic office environment.
Emotional intelligence and strong orientation towards customer service (internally and externally).
Excellent time and project management skills; attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in an entrepreneurial environment. Many projects involve intradepartmental and interdepartmental communication.
High energy and demonstrated passion for Share Our Strength’s mission.
Ability to travel up to 40%.
