Department Summary
The Holden Center for Leadership & Community Engagement (HC) is a unit of the Division of Student Life, which provides University of Oregon students with an array of services and programs to help shape their educational experience as it helps the University carry out its mission of research, teaching, and service. The HC serves the UO community as a provider of leadership development opportunities, materials, and experiences and as a source of expertise for consultation and collaboration across campus. In fulfilling its mission, the HC collaborates with other Student Life and academic units to expand the depth, quality and number of opportunities for UO students to learn about effective leadership in the 21st century.

Position Summary
This is a full time, 12-month fixed-term administrative position that reports to the Director of the Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement. The purpose of this position is to serve as executive support for the Director of the Holden Center, including managing the office functions and providing budgetary support to the Holden Center. Responsibilities include office administration, human resources, executive assistance, and accounting functions including purchasing and contracting coordination, and travel management.

While providing executive assistance to the Director, the person in this position organizes the office functions, supervising the maintenance and inventory of the physical and technological resources of the office including ordering supplies for immediate office use, implementing office procedures, maintaining a central filing system including personnel records, and supervising daily operations. The position is in charge of staff meeting organization. This person authorizes equipment contracts and the use and repair of copy machine, fax, printer and computers as part of the responsibility of making purchases and monitoring office supply inventory.

Decision Making Authority: In collaboration with the Department Director, this position has authority and responsibility to make decisions related to internal controls, compliance, policy and procedure, business and financial transactions, administrative issues, and human resources, including coordinating all search processes within the unit.

Supervision: This position is responsible for supervision of four student employees.

Strategic Management: The Office Coordinator must possess the ability to plan and organize to ensure the completion of tasks and to manage and support others to succeed in their roles. This person must be able to apply process and procedure to achieve compliance, and must comprehend issues surrounding resource sustainability.

Minimum Requirements
Three years of clerical/secretarial experience which included:
• one year at a full performance level performing typing, word processing, or other generating of documents; and
• lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.

Courses or training in Office Occupations or Office Technology may be substituted for up to one year of the clerical/secretarial experience.

No substitution will be made for the one year at the full performance level.

• Proven ability to work in complex frameworks, analyze and prioritize elevated levels of information and convert ideas and objectives into actions
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population
• Ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt well to changes
• Ability to assess a situation independently and determine what steps are required to reach a solution

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree plus supervisory experience
• Prior responsibility and experience managing finances for an organization and establishing budgets in an operation
