Mechanical Engineer – Wastewater Systems – San Francisco, California
Are you a Mechanical Engineer who thrives on retrofitting or upgrading existing systems and helping implement new systems and have experience with wastewater systems ? Do you enjoy working on multiple projects or capital improvement programs? Parsons is providing program and technical support for implementation of major capital improvement projects for a wastewater treatment plant in the Bay Area. We are how hiring Mechanical Engineers to lead the mechanical engineering tasks for all project life-cycle phases – from planning and programming through occupancy.
In this role you will work with treatment plant Operations and Maintenance staff to manage and review mechanical engineering deliverables, such as HVAC equipment and systems, for code compliance and/or physical or program deficiencies that would require capital expenditures. Additionally, you may interact and coordinate projects with design, construction, planning, real estate, and other related discipline leads. You may be asked to review mechanical engineering documents, codes, project cost estimates, as well as statements of work. In addition, you may be involved with supporting as-built engineering functions as the wastewater treatment projects move from design into construction phases. Candidate must also work well within a team dynamic and serve as a technical consultant to the client. Some experience with treatment process is expected, and experience with wastewater treatment plants would be an asset.

Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements supporting wastewater systems. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
Typical assignments may include operations and maintenance manuals, design review, presentation preparation, conducting on-site training of personnel, detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
Coordinates with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved.
Provides support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project.
Works at treatment plant, interfacing directly with Operations and Maintenance staff.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
5-8 years of related work experience.
Experience with mechanical operations for wastewater systems is essential
PE is highly preferred.
Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.
