Materials And Mechanical Test Technician Jobs Vacancy in Tesla Sparks Jobs Details:
The position will be based in Tesla’s Sparks, Nevada Gigafactory in the Quality Analytical Laboratory. The lab’s role in the Gigafactory includes ensuring the quality of battery systems, molded, stamped, and cast materials, raw materials, and providing technical analytical services and expertise for troubleshooting factory operations.
Operate several CNC systems to prepare samples for testing and analysis (prior experience with CNC systems is not required).
Operate, maintain, and interpret results from a tensile/compression test systems (Instron).
Assist with mounting, polishing, and analyzing various metallurgical related tasks.
Assist with additional materials testing tasks as required, such as viscosity measurements.
Proven hands-on experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems.
Strongly preferred: B.S. or equivalent knowledge and experience in either Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering.
Other various ‘mad skills’ are a plus (e.g. light machining, welding, soldering, operation of complex machinery, developing and implementing custom test fixtures, sensors, and monitoring/data collection equipment, ham radio fabrication, tinkering with microelectronics/Arduino, etc.).
Detailed-oriented, able to work both independently and in a collaborative project-focused environment, prompt and dependable, and excellent communication skills.
Be both capable and willing to perform all the various manual tasks involved with factory work, such as (safely) moving large quantities of heavy objects, moving large pallets long distances with a pallet jack, sorting incoming materials, etc.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
