Mailroom Clerk Jobs Vacancy in Douglas County Omaha Jobs Details:
Incumbent works under the direction of the Mailroom Supervisor or designee, performing standard clerical duties involving the sorting, delivery, processing, and distribution of City and County mail.
Collect and sort incoming mail and distribute to City and County departments.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the general public.
Perform related duties in mailroom including: mailing and sorting of mail, inspecting mail through postage and sealing machines, and preparing mail bundles for delivery to departments and outlying offices.
Responsible for maintaining accurate records to keep track of quantity mailed, number of certified or insured items, billing (charge back) of departments, and amount of postage used on a daily basis.
Maintain a pickup and delivery schedule for outgoing and incoming mail to ensure timely handling.
Perform other messenger duties involving the movement of heavy packages or bundles of mail to various locations.
File mail by department/location in mail cart.
Participate in mailing of vehicle license plates every five years.
Report to work at assigned location with regular, predictable, and consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as directed and assigned.
Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Six (6) months work experience in a position utilizing basic clerical skills required.
* Approved related formal education beyond high school may be substituted for work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Work is generally performed indoors in an office setting. Noise level is usually moderate but occasionally loud. Work may be fast paced when managing multiple priorities and dealing with competing needs and/or time constraints. Incumbents may encounter uncooperative or irate persons while performing duties.
Work requires frequent physical activity, including extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and occasional balancing, kneeling, bending, and reaching. Work also requires the ability to frequently lift and carry supplies, equipment and documents weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
