Temporary Ops Park Ranger Jobs Vacancy in John Macarthur Beach State Park North Palm Beach Jobs Details:
This is a temporary OPS Park Ranger position working 29 hours per week at John D. MacArthur Beach State Park. This position does not include insurance or benefits.
POSITION DESCRIPTION :
Picks up ground litter and empties trash cans. Cleans office and restroom, maintains and repairs small buildings, fences, trails, service roads, fire lanes, boardwalks, picnic sites, and all other necessary facilities. May operate a variety of equipment including chainsaws and lawn mowers.
*20% RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Performs exotic plant removal under the supervision of the Park Services Specialist. Assists with imperiled species monitoring. Assists with prescribed fire program.
*15% VISITOR SERVICES
Explains the facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions; operates cash register. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.
Prepares reports in a timely manner including timesheets, vehicle logs, maintenance logs, and rainfall reports.
Insures park rules are enforced pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof for the enjoyment of the visitor.
5% Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; work independently with little supervision; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; prepare reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; perform physical labor utilizing power/electrical/gas tools and equipment; deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner; understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations; work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends; develop and conduct interpretive programs; maintain a valid driver’s license; handle money and balance cash receipts. Skill in utilizing motor vehicles. Knowledge and ability to perform routine inspections; identify and investigate problems and maintain facilities and equipment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED FOR THE POSITION
Ability to operate boats and kayaks.
