DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs a variety of tasks related to the cleaning of the airport terminals, buildings and offices of the airport system. This includes the cleaning of very large floor and carpeted areas including restrooms, offices, and doorways. Inspects buildings and facilities to ensure they meet cleanliness standards. Restocks supplies, waxing and buffing and other duties related to housekeeping. Perform a complex set of activities; visually observing and differentiating details; using a large variety of shop equipment, machines and tools; adjusting to interruptions and changes; using two-way radios; adjusting to repetitive activities; dealing with people in tense situations speaking and writing effectively. May operate vehicles to and from work locations. Working as a member of the team. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required.
Performing these duties will involve expending physical energy for long periods; operating city vehicles; walking long distances and standing for extended periods; climbing ladders and stairs; and lifting up to eighty (80) pounds.
Very fundamental levels of the ability to read, write and follow simple oral instructions as might normally be acquired through up to 8 years of formal schooling.
No work experience required.
Requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Cleaning or housekeeping experience. Ability to understand and implement oral and written instructions and communicate effectively.
