Peer Specialist Jobs Vacancy in District Community Services Board Jobs Details:

District 19 Community Services Board Petersburg Clinic is offering a great opportunity for a full time grant funded SUD Peer Recovery Specialist for the Project Link Program with primary focus on substance use women and their children. Services performed by the PL SUD Peer Recovery Staff will be done under supervision of the Project Link Coordinator. The Peer Recovery Staff is an active member of the SUD team that provides holistic treatment to consumers. They are primary provider of peer recovery services to pregnant and parenting females, substance abuse consumers of the Project LINK and Outpatient programs primarily in Petersburg with auxiliary support to Sussex and Surry counties, Emporia, Prince George and Dinwiddie Counties. Position works closely with other staff and community representatives in using a team approach to enhance parenting stability, enhance quality of life through the recovery process, access to available resources, appropriate use of medical services and patient care. Responsibilities include but not limited to: screenings, co-facilitating groups from a lived perspective, supportive counseling, outreach and home visits. Also provides peer support services to consumers with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders in a manner that is healthy for the consumer to regain or maintain independence within the community, and mastery over their own recovery process. Provide pretreatment, motivational and supportive counseling, life skills training, telephonic aftercare, as well as, coordinate and link consumers to community resources disseminating recovery resources such as booklets, tapes, pamphlets and other written materials within the agency and throughout the community and other general outreach duties


Requirements: (Experience, Essential Education, and Skills Needed):

Successful applicant must have: CSAC-A certification, at least 3 years of continuous sobriety, and certified as a Peer Specialist; 2 years providing SUD supportive counseling, 2 years work experience in SUD/Mental Health/Peer Recovery setting. The successful candidate must also be actively engaged or connected in the recovery community, experience in writing recovery plans, excellent written and verbal skills. Incumbent must also adhere to confidentiality policies, and maintain professional boundaries and be able to work with various organizations and agencies.


Preferred Qualifications / Other Relevant Job Information:

The preferred candidate is one who holds at a minimum a CSAC-A, knowledge of mental health /co-occurringbehaviors and experience in diagnosing substance use disorders and familiarity with the tri-city recovery community is preferred.

Bilingual (Spanish) candidate preferred.

Position is a grade 203. The minimum starting salary is $28,090.00 minimum

Starting salary for new employees will be based on the prospective employee's knowledge, skills and abilities directly relating to the position's duties. Current or most recent verified salary will also be taken into consideration prior to making an offer of employment. Starting salaries for new employees will not exceed the advertised maximum and will be based on the availability of funding within the current budget.

Position requires valid Driver’s License in state of residence with a point balance of -6 or higher, and pre-employment extensive background check and drug screening.
