Department


Behavioral Sciences & Social Medicine – College of Medicine

Responsibilities


This position is a full-time research assistant/associate position. The selected candidate will work on ongoing studies about brain and neurocognitive functioning among patients with cancer and other chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, obesity).

The research assistant will coordinate and organize the CNTRL research office including supervising students, research and project assistants, perform or coordinate data collection and management, complete literature searches, and compile and organize research data.

Manage overall logistical details of various new and ongoing research projects, work with project directors to identify project deadlines and receivables, and develop timelines for projects with project directors and collaborators within and outside of FSU College of Medicine.

Recruit study participants, conduct research assessments, and deliver study protocols.

Participate in the development and submission of study protocols and related amendments to the Florida State University and other collaborating sites Internal Review Boards.

Write and edit project reports and study materials.

Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral, Social or Health Sciences (e.g., Psychology, Cognitive Sciences, Social Sciences, Nursing, and Public Health) or related field with some evidence of course work in research methods; previous exposure and research experience and knowledge of behavioral sciences/health research is necessary. The position will require flexibility in order to meet project deadlines and patient recruitment.

The selected candidate, in addition to having excellent technical abilities, must have a strong oral and written communication skills to present at professional meetings and supervise undergraduate and graduate students and other research collaborators at the Cancer Neurocognitive Translational Research Lab (CNTRL) along with the principal investigator.

Preferred


An ability to translate, adapt, and apply this knowledge to perform research in a behavioral health science field or discipline. Previous experience with behavioral science and clinical research. Experience working with multidisciplinary research team. Experience with data management and data analysis program/software (e.g., SPSS, MatLab, R, Statistica, SAS).

Pay Plan


This is an OPS/temporary Job.

Soft Money Funded Position


This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

This position will initially be for two (2) years. Continuation and renewal for additional years will be based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.

Criminal Background Check


This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
