We are currently building our in house High Performance Cable Assembly staff and are looking for a talented Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. If you are looking for a way to accelerate your career and be part of a great company, this may be the opportunity for you.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the development of new and existing High Performance 10Gbps Cable Assembly Products from concept through product release by personally designing and leading the project to meet or exceed product performance, schedule and within budget. Interface with management and customers as require.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and develop high-speed multi-gigabit connectors and cable assemblies. Signal Integrity design proficiency in high-speed applications using broadside coupling, edge-to-edge coupling, and EMI shielding techniques. Bit rates will be greater than 10Gbps.
Direct connector design experience in terminals, contact physics, contact materials, plating, normal forces, and manufacturing methods.
Provides technical support to customers, suppliers and inside personnel.
Coordinates product activities with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and quality using the engineering change request (ECR) procedures.
Presents concepts and detailed requirements internally and to customers to obtain support for development of major new products.
Performs design verification activities to ensure that design meets the specifications of the customer and UL requirements. Checks manufacturing and sales drawings for completeness and accuracy.
Uses risk reduction tools to perform FEA, model simulation etc. knowledge of material costs and costing processes to determine the impact on various designs
Responsible for loading all products released BOM’s (Bill of Material) and Material Master data sheets through SAP/software.
Understand, support and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering
5 or more years design experience of electromechanical products.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Proficient in solid modeling experience to generate 3D models & 2D drawings and managing data using a PLM software application as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Power Point.
Component design proficiency for high-speed 10Gbps signal integrity applications using broadside coupling, edge-to-edge coupling, and EMI shielding techniques.
Material and manufacturing knowledge of electro mechanical products such as connectors, electronic housings, switches, etc.
Plastic and stamping design experience.
Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections.
Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and in a team.
Travel will be required as necessary
SCOPE: Design and develop new connector and cable-assembly products for High Speed 10Gbps Automotive Applications. Products are designed using 3D CAD solid models, 2D detailed engineering drawings, GD&T, FMEA, and component FAI. Implement products through the requirements of our Automotive customer’s qualification development tests, UL, and PPAP procedures. Completes projects according to internal product development procedures and ISO/QS requirements.
