THIS IS AN ENTRY LEVEL POSITION.
Work hours vary; 40 hours/week - 7 day/week operations; Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required by Park Manager.
In accordance with Act 153 of 2014, this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every five (5) years.

Frances Slocum State Park is hiring a SEASONAL, FULL-TIME position to provide the public a safe, enjoyable environment for recreation and relaxation.
This position is responsible for providing safety and law enforcement at Frances Slocum State Park. The DCNR Ranger patrols the park property and boundaries to ensure the safety of visitors and park grounds. Work involves foot patrols, motorized vehicle, motor boat, and bicycle patrols. A DCNR Ranger presents a professional image to the general public through uniform appearance, verbal skills, courtesies and knowledge of the Park's history. A DCNR Ranger takes charge of emergency situations, accidents, and organizing search and rescue parties, and administers CPR and First Aid when needed. A DCNR Ranger works close with Fish & Boat and Game Commission Officers as witnesses, and testifies on behalf of the Commonwealth in court. A DCNR Ranger is responsible for completing daily logs and operates the Reservation and Revenue System.

Successful completion of the DCNR Ranger Trainee program;
Completion of 15 credits in natural or environmental sciences, natural resource management, park management, outdoor recreation, forestry, environmental education, ecology, wildlife management, or related natural resource or recreation courses; and completion of a department-recognized police training course such as the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (ACT 120), or eligibility for commissioning as a police officer.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must be 21 years of age at time of employment.
Possession of a valid certification or its equivalent in first aid and adult, child, and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as approved by the PA Department of Health for professional rescuers or health care professionals.
Certain positions in ths job require possession of a valid Class M operator's license.
POST EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT: Must obtain commission as a State Park or State Forest Officer that includes powers of arrest and maintain this commission during employment in this job.
NOTE: Employees currently in the PSRA R-4 Bargaining Unit need not meet the METs.
Pennsylvania residency is required.
