Payroll Technician Jobs Vacancy in Oklahoma State University Jobs Details:
This position is responsible for monitoring e-mails, approving monthly EPAFs/paper ENPs and processing monthly payroll for the A&M colleges/universities as well as backing up the OSU monthly payroll processor. This position is responsible for calculating federal and multiple state payroll tax deposits, submitting deposits, claims and returns on a timely basis according to applicable federal and state laws and published deadlines and staying up to date on changes to applicable laws and regulations. This position is responsible for redistributing payroll, entering Direct Deposit forms, adding primary jobs and analyzing/updating FICA/Medicare status.This position will assist with entering court ordered deductions in Banner payroll software and reviewing for accuracy during the payroll process as well as be knowledgeable of the process for court ordered deductions to assist in answering employee questions regarding payroll deductions, receiving, reviewing, and interpreting court ordered documents to determine required action and deadlines that must be met.

Education & Experience
High School/GED and four years payroll, accounting, or HR related experience.
Up to two years of post-secondary education may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
Strong data entry skills.
Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team or independently as applicable.
Ability to focus on detail, ensure thoroughness, and maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to meet and maintain deadlines for payroll processing.
Ability to analyze, solve and make decisions when issues are encountered.
Ability to communicate with a variety of personalities and skill levels.
Ability to recognize when documentation should be created or requested.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize job responsibilities.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously, manage large work volumes, show flexibility, and adapt easily to change.
Vocational/Technical training related to payroll
At least at least four years of experience related to processing a large payroll especially in a Higher Education environment.
Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret legal and/or court documents.
Excellent computer skills including Excel.
Working knowledge of Banner payroll software.
Ability to manually calculate payroll checks.
Understanding of pre/post tax deductions.
Process payrolls of up to 1,000 employees.
Knowledge of Court Ordered deductions.
