Southern California Alcohol and Drug Programs, Inc. (SCADP) was established in 1972 in a grassroots effort by community volunteers seeking alternatives for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). SCADP is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization providing more than 500 residential treatment beds and outpatient counseling to over 1,500 individuals.

Program Monitor-Registered/Certified: This position oversees the general supervision of program participants, program and facility operations,and transportation needs.
SCOPE OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Program Manager for the residential programs of Southern California Alcohol & Drug Programs, the Program Monitor will serve as support staff to the Program Manager and Clinical Directors as needed; assisting with maintenance and implementation of all routine processes, special projects and overall immediate needs.
- Provides one on one, mentoring, support, assistance, problem solving and advocacy to clients
- Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all assigned beneficiary notes, charts, reports, and other documentation related to attendance and beneficiary behaviors
- Maintain the dignity and personal rights by deploying clear and skilled crisis communication and evasion techniques when program beneficiaries display hostile or volatile behaviors which may cause bodily harm to self
- Develop positive workplace relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team by offering appropriate support within a nurturing environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Operate with a mindset / framework of a trauma informed environment by maintaining emotional and physical safety for all staff and clients using the facility’s logistics, supervision of client activities, and monitoring of visitors / family members
- Attend and participate in (un)scheduled supervision meetings with assigned supervisor to discuss and review individualized development plans and pressing concerns or knowledge and skill development needs.
- Attends and participates in shift exchange meetings, staff meetings and other team meetings in accordance with program needs and as assigned
- Supports the implementation of the prescribed treatment protocol of the program in which he or she is employed
- Adheres to the professional ethics and conduct of standards as established by professional licensure and/or certification and to the policies of the organization, and legal, funding and regulatory requirements.
- Attends all required training sessions in accordance with organization, state licensing, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and records client self-administration of medication in accordance with organization Policies and Procedures and collects specimen from clients for drug screens in accord with organization Policy and Procedures
- Meets regularly with team members concerning client and program issues; assists in development or modification of procedures or improvement of services
- Responsible for daily facility checks, room inspections
- Responsible for Inventory/Order/Manage essential supply needs for the facility and residents
- Responsible for preparing patient rooms after discharge and before admissions
- Responsible for Inventory/Manage food pantry
- Responsible for administrative support to Program Manager to include: data base entry of LACPRS and SBAT
- Filing of paperwork and maintaining records
- Provide administrative support to program staff, answer phones, coordinate intake scheduling as needed
- Other duties as required and is subject to change at any time
- Registered to fulfill the requirements of becoming a Certified SUD Counselor with any of the agencies accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
- Must be at least twenty-one years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification
- Monitor-Registered must have completed:
- 1) 90 hours of approved education in SUD counseling, and one of the following
- a.) assessment,
- b.} treatment planning, or
- c.) case management from an accredited addiction studies program, college or university;
- 2) Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Medication-Assisted Treatment, and the ASAM Criteria trainings. Education hours must be completed according to the following timeline: 45 hours of approved education in SUD counseling by December 31, 2018, and 45 hours in one (1) of the other three (3) required subject areas by June 30, 2019. These requirements will apply beginning FY 2018-2019.
- Must have completed at least (3) months of paid or unpaid supervised work experience (including internship/practicum experience) as an SUD counselor in a State-licensed alcohol and other drug treatment facility
- Two years of continuous sobriety if recovering
- Trained to recognize the symptoms and signs of substance abuse and to respond to drug overdose
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and ASAM Modules
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Outlook, and Internet applications
- Able to electronic health records and homeless services data bases
- Strong crisis management, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
- Flexible work schedule to include some evenings and/or weekends
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Effective communication skills including good speaking and writing
- Attention to detail; ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
- AA or higher degree in Behavioral Science
- Current Certification as an Alcohol Other Drug (AOD) Counselor. Certification must be recognized by the state of California approved certifying boards
- At least one year of experience doing substance abuse treatment with an adult population.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Experience or knowledge with evidence-based practices including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and ASAM Modules
- Previous HMIS, SAGE, VI-SPDAT training and proficiency
This position reports to the Program Manager and the Program Clinician, who will supervise the duties and job performance
