Laundry Worker (180005V3)
Operates commercial laundry equipment (e.g., washers, dryers, clothes press, folders, scales, clothing labeler), cleaning and sanitizing laundry. Reviews manufacturer manual to determine correct cleaning solutions quantities. Washes, dries & processes laundry (e.g., runs through steam tunnel, folds, counts, stacks laundered items, sorts by identification tag, records damaged or lost laundry).
Gathers soiled laundry from units & transports to laundry. Sorts soiled laundry (e.g., clothes, linens, bedspreads) by colors, records receipt & release of laundry handled. Delivers finished laundry to units.
Maintains cleanliness of laundry area and equipment (e.g., sweeps and mops floors, dusts equipment, washes windows, empties lint traps, cleans drain pits and grates). Refills dispensers (e.g., hand soap, sanitizer, paper towels, cleaning solutions). Other laundry related duties (e.g., labels laundry, reports money or other personal items in laundry, weighs laundry, etc.).
All other duties as assigned.
In accordance with Section 124.11 (B) (2) of Ohio Revised Code, Director of Administrator Services has determined this classification to be in the unskilled labor class & exempt from written examination.
Knowledge of laundry practices & procedures*; safety practices associated with use of laundry equipment*; sewing or mending techniques & procedures*; housekeeping practices & procedures*; addition & subtraction. Skill in operation of laundry equipment*. Ability to read, copy & record figures; recognize safety warnings; stand, walk or bend continuously; lift up to 100 lbs. repeatedly; move limbs/fingers easily to perform manual functions repeatedly.

Unless otherwise required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be set at the lowest rate of the salary range with gradual increases after completing probation and following successful annual performance evaluations.
