Legal Coordinator

Diversified Consultants, Inc. located in Jacksonville, Florida is currently seeking a highly motivated, outgoing and upbeat professional for the Legal Coordinator position. The Legal Coordinator demonstrates support of the company’s mission by supporting the Compliance department in the processing of lawsuits and attorney demand letters. This position requires the ability to be proficient in all areas regarding complex regulatory and legal procedures. The Legal Coordinator is accountable for the monitoring and assurance that regulatory requirements are met. The Legal Coordinator will be trained and supported to be ready for the next level, Senior Legal Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Compliance Executive Management Team to ensure that the entire company is aware of legal requirements and issues;
  • Provide support and coordination for legal and regulatory-related projects;
  • Support the VP of Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer in legal tasks;
  • Ensure all legal documents received are processed effectively by notation and notification to DCI attorneys;
  • Draft, review and provide appropriate responses to DCI’s attorney team
  • Ensure all appropriate responses are tracked and notated;
  • Log all lawsuits and perform lawsuit due diligence per the ‘Lawsuit received’ policy;
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on all litigation matters to ensure the most up to date information;
  • Handle all attorney inquiries in an expeditious manner. Ensure that all response deadlines are met;
  • Document and provide results to upper management on all legal related issues;
  • Provide employee training when necessary on litigation related topics, policies or procedures;
  • Verify all company and regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated;
  • Stay up to date with all regulatory/legal changes and advise as necessary;
  • Review case worth, stay within settlement authority of $5,000;
  • Document fully as to why case was settled for what it was on each account affected;
  • Maintain accurate and consistent documentation of each case with detailed current status information;
  • Ensure all closed matters reflect the resolution, reason for resolution and the preventative measures taken to ensure minimum exposure going forth;
  • Provide full and complete attention to detail for every case assigned;
  • Provide support and coordination for legal and regulatory-related projects;
  • Support Compliance Staff with Escalated Calls for Compliance to avoid further legal action. Also tracking and completing follow up as needed on such calls;
  • Effectively communicate levels of risk to specific departments;
  • Assist if necessary before, during, and after internal and external audits;
  • Ability to Advise senior management on any regulatory changes that may affect risk and provide recommendations to mitigate the potential risk;
  • Train, when necessary, any legal or regulatory changes for understanding to staff;
  • Maintain proficient knowledge in all aspects of FDCPA, FCRA, UDAAP, GLBA, TCPA, Regulation E; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience/Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Associate Degree or higher is preferred;
  • Ability to manage time and resources adequately for multiple projects;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products;
  • Strong organization and time management skills;
  • Ability to anticipate, accept, adjust, communicate, coach and execute changes in a fast- paced, dynamic collections call center environment;
  • Attention to Detail and effective listening skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employee; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Hours of Operations: Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM
