Salary Commensurate with Experience and Qualifications
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Occasional evenings & weekends in support of events and programs
The Marketing and Communications Manager is a full-time, exempt position providing significant assistance to the Executive Director to develop and implement strategies for the Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University, ensuring that the artistic program, coursework and all arts-related activities are appropriately positioned, communicated and disseminated both internally and externally. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will be responsible for managing marketing and communications across multiple platforms, including social media and the web, as well as coordinating all public relations efforts.
Experience may not be substituted for the education requirement.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or other related field
Directly related experience in marketing and communications, which includes at least one year of experience in web and social media management
Education may not be substituted for the experience requirement.
- Experience implementing marketing and communications plans
- Experience managing third-party vendors such as branding, public relations and web design firms
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills
- Good organization and creativity skills
- Good analytical problem solving skills
- Ability to write compellingly about the arts, education, and community engagement
- A desire to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment
- A passion for the arts
- Ability to think creatively and develop innovative approaches and communications strategies
- Familiarity with Drupal
This position will have regular contact with diverse departments on campus such as Public Affairs, Art, Architecture and Public Art. He or she will also be the primary point person with outside consultants such as a public relations firm and a web development firm.
Occasional evenings and/or weekends will be required to provide staff presence and support at Moody events and programming.
