Financial Coach Outreach Specialist Temporary Year Jobs Vacancy in The Alliance Houston Jobs Details:

Description: The Financial Coach & Outreach Specialist will support limited English proficient (“LEP”) and other under-served Hurricane Harvey survivors seeking disaster relief in the form of financial capability to ensure successful restoration of net income and debt reduction. He/she will carry out case management operations of The Alliance’s Financial Opportunity Center’s (FOC) financial programs for low-to-moderate income residents in multiple counties. He/she will perform marketing activities such as community outreach, process new participants, and conduct follow-up counseling. He/she will maintain internal client reporting databases and maintain file documentation for participants. The Financial Coach & Outreach Specialist will ensure emotionally, culturally and linguistically appropriate services will be provided to impacted individuals and families residing in the Greater Houston Area, including but not limited to Brazoria, Fort Bend, Stafford, Montgomery, Galveston and Harris counties. The duties may require this position to be housed in one or both of the following neighborhoods: Gulfton or Magnolia. He/she will assist FOC Program Manager as requested. Training will be provided.

Main duties include:

  • Market FOC services by delivering marketing material to Harvey impacted communities in various counties
  • Recruit & interview Harvey Survivors from target population and explain FOC program services to them
  • Conduct Financial Literacy workshops and provide one-on-one Financial Coaching to Hurricane Harvey impacted community clients
  • Serve as budgeting and savings plan coach for participants
  • Coach clients about financial services (loans, credit cards, credit building, financial programs) and credit reports
  • Coordinate with other Financial Coaches on Credit Builder Program enrollment and payments
  • Maintain Salesforce client database and prepare reports as needed
  • Prepare any needed documentation for asset disbursement
  • Determine and document participant eligibility & participation in program services
  • Schedule, coordinate and document all participant activities in required software programs
  • Report program outcomes to FOC Program Manager by deadlines
  • Meet or exceed grant goal outcomes
  • Report on available resources to the FOC team during regular meetings to ensure that other coaches are aware of opportunities
  • Acquire necessary job training/certifications to perform job duties
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant case files per established policy
  • Must consistently demonstrate the ability to independently produce positive business outcomes aligned with organizational strategic initiatives and goals
  • Ensure full compliance with company policy and/or, but not limited to all applicable federal, state and local laws & regulations as related to job function
  • Must perform job in a safe and ethical manner and with a positive and respectful attitude towards Alliance staff and clients
  • Work with other Financial Coaches to execute tasks assigned by FOC Program Manager
  • Conduct research and other assigned tasks for FOC Program Manager

Required Qualifications and experience at this Level

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in Finance/Economics or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) or more years background in personal finance; Extensive experience providing information on and help accessing financial services which are available in Houston (and beyond) including budgeting/savings tools and financial products/services available to the community
  • Basic computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and other job related software/e-technology/cloud based solutions
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural understanding and skills working with low-to-moderate income populations;
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred
  • Case file management experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate and respond to questions in a professional and knowledgeable manner; multi-task and remain detailed and organized; work independently, maintain confidentiality and strong client service at all times
  • Consistently demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach for generating new ideas with the principles of continuous improvement
  • Ability to follow specific instructions and adhere to safety guidelines
  • Must have valid driver’s license, clear driving record, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation as required to drive on company business.
