Essential Job Functions: Develop design configurations and create Unigraphics/ NX solid models of design concepts to customer specifications, primarily for gas turbine engines and accessories. You will also be responsible for dispositioning Non-Conforming Aerospace Hardware through engineering judgement. List all of the other activities that fall within this job description, and include the items that may make up ~90% of the tasks for this position. Product Design Focus o Create sketches and solid models of design concepts o Generate new design concepts to provide engineering solutions o Perform trade studies o Responsible for design configuration; cost, weight, assembly, and produce-ability requirements o Present work to customers at product reviews o Generate design documentation such as product review material, tolerance stacks, design layout, and design substantiation memo (DSM) o Determine egress and routing for instrumentation o Evaluate quality non-conformances with respect to fit, form, and function o Disposition Aerospace hardware based on engineering judgement and drawing/ manufacturing specifications o Make design change recommendations (cost savings, productivity improvements, etc), document the work, and present the findings to our clients General Responsibilities o Learn, understand, and apply our customer s standard design and repair procedures o Support quotation efforts with accurate estimates of design time required to complete tasks o Make design change recommendations, document the work, and present the findings to our clients o Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement and take ownership for implementation Secondary Job Functions: Execution within multiple services Product/Project Management: Execution and Support Cross-functional teams Geographic re-assignments Account Management and Sales Enabler roles, such as Human Resources, Technology Development, and IT Quality Management and Continuous Improvement Specialized Knowledge/ Skills You should have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Aerospace Engineering field. You will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. You will work under the immediate supervision of QuEST Project and Team leads. In this discipline there are several areas of focus, outlined below. Among the responsibilities will be the following: Experience with aerospace component design or industrial gas turbines preferred General knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing techniques (castings, metal cutting, turning, coatings, milling, EDM, welding, sheet metal/composite forming and joining, metal tube bending), and industry standards General knowledge of GD&T and ability to perform tolerance stacks Experience with solid modeling tools; Unigraphics (NX 8.5 or higher) preferred Education, Training, and Experience BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 3+ years experience performing design of mechanical equipment and/or working on Non-conforming hardware. Familiarity with the Gas Turbine Engine and the Propulsion Systems Education Proven experience with Non-Conforming Aerospace hardware Dispositioning of aerospace hardware through engineering judgment Experience with solid modeling tools; Unigraphics (NX 8.5 or higher) preferred Blueprint reading, understanding and transfer ability Proficiency with the MS Office Suite Personal Work Attributes Strong communication, team work, and organizational skills required Ability to work in a fast-paced, learning environment, meeting quick deadlines Self-motivated, disciplined, passionate, and organized Excellent verbal and written communication skills Great interpersonal and networking skills Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Mostly Office Environments.
